Where the business started

LACQ started as a traditional mom-and-pop beauty-supply operating business, built on two advantages most software companies never have: a manufacturing background and a working nail-supply distribution relationship in Texas. LACQ's about page describes Anh Tran's background in manufacturing and Mindy Tran's background in Texas nail-supply distribution. That pairing is what gave the company its starting position, a factory relationship on one end and a distribution business on the other.

The customers were nail professionals, salon owners and supply retailers, a base that is largely owner-operated and often bilingual. Ordering ran the way it runs across much of the trade: by phone, by text, by a visit to the supply counter, and by memory of who ordered what and when.

This was a real operating business with real advantages, not a startup looking for a product to build. The manufacturing relationship meant LACQ understood how beauty products were made. The distribution relationship meant it understood how they moved. What it did not yet have was a way to connect those two forms of knowledge into a shared system.

The constraint: industry knowledge trapped in manual workflows

LACQ's own description of the problem is the right starting point. The nail and beauty supply chain is fragmented. Barcodes are inconsistent or absent. SKUs go missing between the manufacturer's catalog, the distributor's warehouse and the store shelf. Ordering, receiving and reconciliation run on paper, phone calls and memory. Inventory visibility is weak at every step, which means shrinkage is discovered late and replenishment is reactive.

For an operator with manufacturing and distribution advantages, this fragmentation was both the opportunity and the ceiling. It was the opportunity because whoever standardized the product universe and connected the steps would gain a position nobody else in the chain held. It was the ceiling because a distribution business that grows without a shared data layer grows its manual work in proportion: more customers meant more paper, more calls, more exceptions.

Opsist helped develop the strategy and operating architecture behind that transformation, working alongside the founders to turn manufacturing and distribution knowledge into a technology platform rather than treating it as something separate from software.

The approach was to identify the core economic engine already working in the business, build the operating technology and shared infrastructure to support it, create repeatable workflow, and reduce the degree to which the business depended on any one person's memory of how things worked. LACQ's three product lines, CALIBR, TRADQ and TRAKK, are the result of applying that approach across manufacturing, ordering and store operations in sequence.

Building the shared product and data foundation

Nothing downstream works until the products themselves are identifiable the same way at every step. This is the layer LACQ's vision-based product recognition addresses, and it is the layer Opsist helped prioritize first. If a product can be recognized visually rather than only by a barcode that may be missing, inconsistent or duplicated, the same item can be identified the same way on the factory line, in the warehouse, on the delivery route and at the store counter.

The value of this layer is easy to underestimate because it produces no revenue on its own. It produces the shared vocabulary. The 8,000-plus product catalog LACQ describes publicly is the beginning of a product master for an industry that never had one, and every layer built after it inherits that foundation.

CALIBR is the manufacturing vision-intelligence and factory quality-control product built on top of this foundation. It is the point where product data is born: a product inspected and classified at the factory enters the chain with an identity attached, rather than acquiring one later, inconsistently, at a distributor's receiving dock.

Launching TRADQ.us B2B ordering

Opsist helped drive the launch of TRADQ.us as the B2B ordering platform, the layer where the distribution business itself became software. Orders that used to arrive by phone, text or a visit to the supply store now arrive as structured data against the standardized catalog. Fulfillment, delivery and inventory are visible rather than reconstructed after the fact.

TRADQ is described publicly as covering B2B ordering, showroom and fulfillment, delivery and inventory visibility, with bilingual ordering for nail professionals. Opsist helped coordinate the launch of that platform and the operating decisions around it, from how orders route through fulfillment to how the customer relationship persists after the first order.

From an operating standpoint, TRADQ is where a distributor's manual work stopped scaling in direct proportion to customers. It is also where the customer relationship became persistent. A salon that orders through a platform, tracks delivery through it and reorders through it is no longer a monthly phone call, it is an account with a history.

Launching mobile applications

Opsist helped launch mobile applications to support the digital ordering and commerce experience alongside TRADQ.us. For a customer base of nail professionals and salon owners who run their businesses from the shop floor, an ordering experience that lives on a phone matters more than one that requires sitting at a desk.

The mobile experience carries the same ordering, fulfillment and delivery workflow as the web platform, built against the same product identities established through the shared data foundation. Launch coordination covered the practical work of getting a mobile product into customers' hands and adopted as part of their ordering routine, not just building the application.

Connecting factory, distributor and store workflows

TRAKK is described publicly as point of sale with real-time inventory, shrinkage visibility and automated replenishment into TRADQ. This is the layer that closes the loop. When a product sells at a supply store, the sale is recorded against the same product identity created at the factory and shipped through TRADQ. Inventory updates in real time, shrinkage becomes visible as a difference between what was received and what was sold or counted, and replenishment can trigger automatically back into the ordering layer.

Read as three separate products, CALIBR, TRADQ and TRAKK are a software portfolio. Read as three connected workflows, they are a loop that Opsist helped design as part of the integrated data strategy: manufacturing data improves catalog accuracy, catalog accuracy makes ordering faster, and store-level sales and shrinkage data show what actually moves, which informs what the distributor stocks and what the factory produces next.

Why this changes the economics of the company

Opsist does not publish LACQ's financial results, and nothing here should be read as a claim about them. What can be said is how an integrated model of this shape changes the character of a business, and therefore how a lender, investor or acquirer would read it.

  • More recurring workflows. Ordering, replenishment and point-of-sale activity recur weekly, and a distribution relationship that runs through software recurs by design rather than by habit.
  • Broader monetization surfaces. Products, distribution, software and transaction-based economics are different ways of earning from the same network, which reduces dependence on any one of them.
  • Better visibility. Inventory, shrinkage and demand become measurable at each step, which is the precondition for margin management and for reporting a third party can trust.
  • Reduced manual dependence. Work that used to live in individual memory moves into workflow, which is what reduces key-person risk and lets the business add customers without adding proportional headcount.
